Week 3 EOC: Deeper Meaning of Swingers

I really enjoyed the way the movie Swingers integrate the idea of the social networking with something that nearly everyone has experience with, dating.  The most important part of properly networking is confidence, not cockiness.  Vince Vaughn's character is the perfect example of that in the movie, and very clearly is highly successful with nearly every interaction he has in the entire movie.  Jon Favreau's character is at a low point in his life, and he lets that show through his moments in meeting girls in the movie.  The movie shows that you have to balance talking with being talked to, also known as conversation, and how a person can get turned off very quickly if a  conversation is too one sided. All of the character's in the movie are in a constant state of going around to bar's, people's houses, restaurants, and parties just to make new connections with interesting people, and if a party is 'dead' then its time to pick up and go to the next one. All the characters talk about at these parties are their careers, and to see their friends and see how their careers are going. This is just more networking in action. The most important thing is you'll never know when or where you'll make the connection that moves you up in your field.  Always ask for a number, the movie tells us, which more or less relates to a business card.  The way the movie perfectly represents all of this in the movie through a romantic comedy setting is quite stellar, and I've definitely learned a thing or two from watching it.

Week 1 EOC: My Voice

Part 1:
Week 1 EOC: My voice
I’ve grown to become more than just a musician.  After becoming an Audio Producer/ Engineer, I truly understand all of the facets involved within the Audio Industry.  I take my work very seriously because all media needs audio to accompany it; whether it’s music, Foley artistry, dialogue recording, or sound design.  Everyone has their own idea of great sound, but everyone can agree on ugly, and how poor audio quality can affect what could otherwise be a great piece of art.  I strive to produce the greatest projects I can so there can be no question as to if my work is ‘good enough’, but I always strive for the best and don’t stop until I achieve my fullest potential. Sound is beautiful because it is an intangible link between each and every person and culture on this planet, and the mystery of that is what truly drives me forward in my pursuit of sound.  When I first set out on this path I was much more plainly focused on music, but I’ve grown to love and excel at many other aspects of the audio world.  Nothing is more fun and exciting than this career in the audio world that I’m in, and I can’t wait to see what to see where I go and what I create in the process.

Part 2:
